Beastie Boys Sample Source Collection
Following on from yesterdays post with the sample sources for Main Source’s Breaking Atoms album, and a little tip off from DJ Crump, I found myself stumbling across a right gem! Turns out, those helpful chaps over at Miscreant Creations have been busy working away to find all of the sample sources for pretty much everything the Beastie Boys have ever done..
I’ve sourced and tracked down damn near every song that has ever been sampled by the Beastie Boys from Licensed to Ill up until To The 5 Boroughs, and all points in between. This has been an ongoing project since 1998 and although it will never be 100% complete, this is probably as close as it gets. As it stands, the only ‘source’ that I wasn’t able to track down was Modern Dynamic Physical Fitness Activities by Ed Durlacher, which was sampled in Body Movin’

Chairman Maf is a name that should be familiar to all of my regular followers on the blog, facebook and also soundcloud, consistently putting out really heavy, but at the same time beautiful string and flute laden beats, conjouring up scenes from 70s blaxploitation films, sunlit meadows on 8mm cine film and smoky jazz cafes from the 50s..
His latest 4 track EP, ‘Dusted’ continues on with the dreamy soundscapes and the kind of drums that got me into hiphop in the first place. Check it out here:

Nuthin But A ‘G’ Thang [Sleepy Time Ghost ReDub]
This cropped up in my facebook feed, and I’ll admit, as I clicked on it I thought “Why the fuck have I just clicked on a remix of a Dr. Dre track by someone I’ve never heard of? This is going to be shit..”
Well, seeing as I’d opened the tab, I thought I might as well have a quick listen, and I was pleasantly surprised – Yeah, it’s well nice!
With his debut (and freely downloadable release via the player below), Sleepy Time Ghost has transformed the well known gangster rap classic into a nice dubbed out version, perfect for these sunny days that we are finally seeing!
