A factual report about unsung DJ’s who contributed to the foundational principals of the music known today as Hip Hop. This documentary transports you to a journey back to the early underground disco days of the streets and parks throughout New York City.

Well late to the party on this particular tune, although I’ve posted about The Apple Scruffs a few times previously. A wicked edit of a nice disco cover version of the Pink Floyd classic

    Evasions – Wikka Wrap

Of all the birthday presents I’ve ever had, I think discovering that someone back in the day made a rap tribute to Alan Whicker is going to take some beating…

    Yes, really…

  • Breakin’ Bread -Diggin’ in the Crates March 2013

Skeg dug in his stacks of wax once more to pull out a load of stuff that is certifiably dope but doesn’t get played much down the Breakin Bread club. This is the quality stuff that can lounge at the back of a record collection for years but should never be forgotten…

Plenty more hot jams right here:

  • Beastie Boys Sample Source Collection

Following on from yesterdays post with the sample sources for Main Source’s Breaking Atoms album, and a little tip off from DJ Crump, I found myself stumbling across a right gem! Turns out, those helpful chaps over at Miscreant Creations have been busy working away to find all of the sample sources for pretty much everything the Beastie Boys have ever done..

I’ve sourced and tracked down damn near every song that has ever been sampled by the Beastie Boys from Licensed to Ill up until To The 5 Boroughs, and all points in between. This has been an ongoing project since 1998 and although it will never be 100% complete, this is probably as close as it gets. As it stands, the only ‘source’ that I wasn’t able to track down was Modern Dynamic Physical Fitness Activities by Ed Durlacher, which was sampled in Body Movin’

    Yes indeeeeeed!

Another thrilling installment of the my bi-weekly radio show on Cambridge 105.

The guest mix this time round is from ME! I decided to have a stab at recording the set I played at Boomslang in November, alongside DJ Yoda, Chris Groove, and The Nextmen amongst others, and although it’s a bit ropey, here it is..
