  • Flight Facilities for ‘triple j Mix Up Exclusives’: 1992-2002

    https://soundcloud.com/flightfacilities/flight-facilities-1992-2002

The third installment of our mixes for triple j Mix Up Exclusives. Taking you chronologically from 1992 – 2002.

Once again, using the Soundcloud time markers, we want to see you name:

    – The samples of major events in history
    – The original songs used to make the edits
    – The modern day songs that used the samples
    – The unlisted cuts of other songs we snuck in

Just like the 72-82 mix and the 82-92 mix, there are plenty of Easter eggs to be found. Some more obvious than others. Get hunting…

  • Beastie Boys Sample Source Collection

Following on from yesterdays post with the sample sources for Main Source’s Breaking Atoms album, and a little tip off from DJ Crump, I found myself stumbling across a right gem! Turns out, those helpful chaps over at Miscreant Creations have been busy working away to find all of the sample sources for pretty much everything the Beastie Boys have ever done..

I’ve sourced and tracked down damn near every song that has ever been sampled by the Beastie Boys from Licensed to Ill up until To The 5 Boroughs, and all points in between. This has been an ongoing project since 1998 and although it will never be 100% complete, this is probably as close as it gets. As it stands, the only ‘source’ that I wasn’t able to track down was Modern Dynamic Physical Fitness Activities by Ed Durlacher, which was sampled in Body Movin’

    Yes indeeeeeed!

Haaaa! My endz, blood.. MY ENDZ!

A 5 minute tour of the highlights of the place I grew up in..

  • Mr T’s Commandments

No doubt you’ve all seen Mr T’s ‘Be Somebody, or Be Somebody’s Fool’ motivational video for kids (And if you’ve not, track it down it’s gold – according to rumour Ice T wrote all of Mr T’s Raps..) but what I didn’t know about was this LP, continuing on in the ‘Don’t do drugs, stay in school’ theme…

  • PARTY LIKE IT’S 1985!

    Howdy folks!

Hope you all had a good xmas, and are gradually digesting the mountain of turkey, sprouts and Quality Street you ingested over the past week… Just a quick reminder about the New Years Eve bonanza that is happening at The Fountain Inn on Regent Street tomorrow night:

The minds behind the disco steamroller that is QVC team up with the guys behind your new favourite night, Cuff ’em and Stuff ’em, to bring you a night of house, disco, bassline funk and electro, but more importantly -FUN!

  • Datassette – Santa Claus taking Paul McCartney up the wrong ‘un…

    Sketchy Santa...
    Come sit on my Knee….

    IT’S CHRIIIIIIISTMAAAAAAS!

Well, nearly… Here’s Datassette’s frankly mental take on the Paul McCartney xmas classic.. I remember playing this upstairs at Warning and seeing the ‘What the fuck? Nahhh….NAAAAAHHHH!’ faces of a roomful of krusty trustafarians as they recognised the intro, instantaneously transform into bassface mode when it dropped…

Check out the Datassette site for plenty more tunes to download…
